The Glory of the Lord
1. The Glory in the Creation
Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
Exodus 33:18
This was the cry and deepest desire of the great prophet Moses, He requested God to show him His Glory. With my experiences as a student of bible I come to know the Glory of God or His presence is manifested in different ways. I would like to give you some examples below:
1. The Glory in the Creation
Psalm 19:1 beautifully expresses the declaration that the heavens themselves proclaim the glory of God, while the skies reveal His masterful craftsmanship. It is evident in our human experience that when we observe a painting, we marvel at the brilliance of the painter's thoughts and ideas skillfully captured on canvas. Likewise, when we encounter a magnificent building, our minds are drawn to reflect upon the expertise and craftsmanship of the builder. In a similar manner, as we gaze upon the stars, the vast expanse of the heavens, and the majestic seas, we witness the invisible yet awe-inspiring hand of God at work in all things. The intricate details and breathtaking beauty of creation testify to God's role as the majestic Creator, leaving us in awe of His divine artistry.
2. The Manifested Glory
We are aware of the existence of two realms in the universe: the physical realm and the spiritual realm. Throughout the Bible, we witness instances where God chooses to reveal His spiritual presence in the physical world. A notable example can be found in 2 Chronicles 5:14, where the glory of the Lord filled the house of God to such an extent that the priests were unable to continue ministering.
I refer to this manifestation of God's presence as the "glory of God," the "manifested presence," or the "outpouring of the Holy Spirit." It is a demonstration of His mercy when He chooses to make Himself known in a tangible way within a specific environment. I have personally experienced such moments during prayer meetings, where I have felt the weight and presence of the Lord's glory on my hands. It is a powerful encounter with His manifesting glory in the atmosphere.
Furthermore, Jesus Christ is often referred to as the "manifested glory of God." Through Jesus, God made the decision to fully reveal His divine being to humanity. This remarkable act of manifestation serves as the greatest example of the glory of God becoming tangible and accessible to us.
It is important to acknowledge and honor these instances of God's manifested glory, as they demonstrate His desire to connect with us in a profound and tangible way. The manifested presence of God serves as a powerful reminder of His love, mercy, and power, drawing us into a deeper relationship with Him.
What is the meaning of Word Glory of the Living God?
The glory of the Living God refers to the radiant manifestation and presence of God on earth. The term "Shekinah Glory" is often used to describe this visible display of God's presence, portrayed through natural occurrences. "Shekinah" is a Hebrew word meaning "dwelling" or "one who dwells," emphasizing the divine presence of God.
Furthermore, the concept of Shekinah Glory highlights the desire to personally encounter and have a relationship with God. This desire was expressed by Moses when he longed to experience the visible manifestation of God's being. It is a beautiful longing for a human to desire a personal connection with the Creator of the Universe. Have you ever had a similar longing, like Moses, to experience the glory of the Creator?
In His mercy, God fulfilled Moses' desire and had already planned to reveal His majestic being to all creation, especially to humans, even before the creation of the universe. When Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world, God made His glory accessible to humanity. The Bible declares in John 1:14, "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." Through the crucifixion of Jesus, the glory of God was revealed to the world. Additionally, the Bible promises that when a person is born again, "Christ, the Hope of Glory, lives within them."
